Grimsby Owner Highlights Man Utd Disconnect: Coach Dressing Room vs. Car Boot

Jason Stockwood recalls a conversation with Manchester United

Grimsby Town made headlines around the globe recently. They pulled off a massive upset, knocking Manchester United out of the English League Cup. That win just added to the problems brewing at Old Trafford. It even pushed Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim to the very edge of leaving the Red Devils.

Among all the great memories from that historic night, and the buzz about what this smaller club achieved, some funny stories are popping up. One particular detail really shows where things stand with United these days. It came from Jason Stockwood, the owner of Grimsby.

Stockwood shared a quick, amusing story. He explained that when Manchester United was getting ready to visit, they sent a detailed list of demands for their coach. “They were asking where the coach’s changing room was,” he said, smiling. “Seriously? A coach’s changing room? For us, that’s literally the boot of his car!”

He found the whole idea of a special changing room for the Manchester United coach hilarious. “They clearly had no clue what kind of club they were coming to,” Stockwood added. He also noticed something important when the United players stepped off their bus and onto the pitch. “I could tell right away,” he finished, “those players weren’t ready for the fight. They honestly looked like they didn’t want to be there.”
