Greta Thunberg dislodged from a demonstration a few hours after her trial

Just hours after her first trial for disobeying the police, Greta Thunberg was once again confronted by law enforcement. The Swedish activist was dislodged from a demonstration for the climate by the police on Monday in Sweden.

Six activists, including Greta Thunberg, were taken away by the Malmö police, suspected of “refusal to comply” – the same offense for which she was convicted – according to the police and an AFP photographer. On June 19, along with other activists, Greta Thunberg blocked access to the same port to protest against the use of fossil fuels and refused to obey police orders.

“An emergency”

“It is true that I was there that day and that I received an order that I did not listen to, but I would like to deny” any crime, she pleaded Monday before the Malmö court, according to an AFP photographer on the spot.

She explained that she acted “out of necessity” in the face of the climate emergency. “In my opinion, we are in an emergency situation, and for this reason, my action was legitimate,” she justified at a press conference after her trial.
