Grandal and Mendick lead White Sox to victory

Yasmani Grandal broke parity with a two-run double with two outs in the eighth inning, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Texas Rangers 8-3 on Friday.

Danny Mendick homered to cap Chicago’s five-run drive in the eighth.

Nathaniel Lowe homered and doubled for Texas. Cuba’s Adolis Garcia and Corey Seager each hit home runs, but the Rangers lost for the seventh time in nine games.

Cuban Grandal broke the 3-3 tie with a double against John King (1-2). Josh Harrison had an RBI single and Mendick added a home run for Chicago, which snapped a two-hit streak a day after losing 11-9 to the Dodgers.

Kendall Graveman (2-1) advanced to the eighth inning to get the victory, despite allowing a home run by Seager that tied the score 3-3.

For the Twins, Cuban Garcia 4-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Dominican Ezequiel Duran 3-0.

For the White Sox, the Cubans Luis Robert 4-1 with a run scored, José Abreu 3-1, Yoán Moncada 4-1 with a run scored, Grandal 3-2 with three RBIs. The Dominican Leury García without an official turn but with an entry.
