Granada is close to eliminating Celta Vigo

Veteran goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín, 35, could be on the verge of a change of scenery, with Granada being considered as a possible destination after missing out at Celta Vigo. According to recent reports, Granada have expressed serious interest in signing the Argentine goalkeeper, who is currently in talks to leave the Vigo team.

Although the eventual transfer could strengthen a direct competitor in the fight against relegation, Marchesín’s departure would allow Celta to free up significant resources within the salary limit set for the current season. Rafa Benítez, the team’s strategist, is already eyeing Vicente Guaita and Iván Villar as options in goal, but a real chance for the experienced Argentine goalkeeper is not in sight in the near future.

Marcehsín, the one chosen to score

Marchesín’s limited involvement with Celta is the main trigger for his desire to leave the club. Aware of the limited playing opportunities in the league, the Argentine goalkeeper moved from Porto to Celta in the summer of 2022. Despite initial criticism due to the team’s poor performance, Marchesín managed to regain his level. However, a serious injury forced him to sit out the season since February and since then he has been working tirelessly to get back into competition.

Granada, on the other hand, dissatisfied with the performance of André Ferreira and faced with physical problems with Raúl Fernández, sees in Marchesín the ideal solution to strengthen its target. The urgency to improve performance in the position adds even more urgency to Granada’s efforts to sign the experienced Argentine goalkeeper.
