Gram Chikitsalay Review: Amol Parashar Weak Link in TVF’s Panchayat Inspired Series

The TVF’s latest show “Gram Chikitsalay” tries to achieve what “Panchayat” did, but ends up feeling like a poor imitation. Although the initial idea is intriguing, the show struggles to live up to it. One of the issues is that the story, inspired by doctors who work in rural areas, doesn’t seem to be backed by thorough research.

A Lackluster Narrative

Vinay Pathak plays a quirky doctor who diagnoses patients using Google and AI. While the premise is unique, his character feels forced. The story meanders, and the pacing is slow. The show’s attempts to tackle corruption and red tape in rural healthcare feel shallow. The writing lacks depth in showing the day-to-day operations of rural health centers. Adding to the problem is poor casting, with Amol Parashar’s character feeling out of place. His timing is off, and the dialogue often sounds awkward.

Cinematic Brilliance Amidst the Chaos

The cinematography is one of the few highlights, with Girish Kant’s camera work showcasing the beauty of Jharkhand. The visuals are stunning, and some frames are reminiscent of classic films like “Sholay.” However, the music fails to make an impact, and the costumes look out of place. If you’re looking to pass the time, you can watch “Gram Chikitsalay.”

The overall narrative is underwhelming, and it does not have the charm of “Panchayat.” The show has all the makings of a mediocre release—weak writing and poor casting. Here’s the cast of this series:

  • Vinay Pathak
  • Amol Parashar
  • Anandeshwar Dvivedi
  • Aakash Makheeja
  • Aakanksha Ranjan Kapoor
  • Garima Vikrant Singh
  • Paritosh Tiwari
  • Kumar Saurabh

The writers are Deepak Mishra, Arunabh Kumar, and Vaibhav-Shreya, with Rahul Pandey at the helm as director. “Gram Chikitsalay” is now streaming on Amazon Prime. The verdict? A disappointing 2 out of 5 stars.
