GPT Store with specially developed chatbots launches next week

The GPT Store, a store for custom chatbots based on ChatGPT, will launch next week, OpenAI reports.

“We know people want AI that is smarter, more personal, more customizable and can do more things on their behalf.”“said Altman, CEO of OpenAI, before the launch of the GPT Store. “Over time, you will only ask the computer for what you need, and it will do all of those tasks for you.”

Since its launch, developers have created thousands of GPTs with a wide range of uses, from legal advice to helping set up an online store. An important aspect is that GPTs can be created without any programming effort.

For Altman, GPTs are the future of OpenAI and aim to answer the big concern that ChatGPT is great but not useful. What we don't know yet is how the GPT Store will be monetized since it is a “store”.

Currently, GPTs are only available to ChatGPT Premium subscribers, who pay $20 per month for the service. But the launch of the GPT Store will open it up to free users, and it's unclear how OpenAI plans to monetize it, especially since Altman has promised to pay top GPT developers.

Ultimately, the main question underlying all of this is: Will GPTs be useful? That remains to be seen.
