Government will subsidize with RD$1,550 million more to rice producers

The Dominican Government will subsidize in the coming days RD$1,550 millionrice producers, to guarantee rice production for the next 2023.

This was reported by the Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruz, during a meeting with representatives of the National Rice Commission (CONA).

" The government headed by President Luis Abinader will allocate an additional RD$1,550 million to the sector in fertilizer subsidies in the coming days, in order to continue guaranteeing efficient and high-quality production of cereal"Cruz advanced.

In other information, the official announced that the Agricultural Cabinet will deliver RD$50 million for certified seeds and the construction of 800 kilometers of local roads for free, for rice producers to work for the food sovereignty of the Dominican population.

“Once again our president reaffirms that he is working in favor of farm workers, in order to continue guaranteeing your profitability and the food security of Dominicans,” he said.

For his part, Rubén Sosa, a rice producer, expressed that there is no danger in the rice production in Bajo Yaque and Castañuela de Montecristi, despite the weather presented this year.
