This was reported tonight by Homero Figueroa, director of government strategy and communication, in a brief message posted on the Government’s Twitter page.

“The Dominican government, so far, has not disclosed, formally or informally, any proposal related to a tax reform,” said the official.

The issue of tax reform has generated concern in some sectors, indicating that it is not the time to apply more tax burdens to the population.

One of those who were against the proposal is the senator of the Dominican Liberation Party, José del Castillo Saviñon, who affirmed that this issue will be discussed at the PLD meeting and added that it worries everyone. "sectors of the country".

"Obviously this is not the time, this is a time where around 200 jobs that were lost during the pandemic still need to be recovered, the industrial and commercial sector, the tourism sector are beginning a slow process of recovery and that reform would be a mortal blow both to the middle class as to those sectors"explained the senator for the Barahona province.
