Goran Sobin, European champion and former Taugrés player, dies

Former Croatian basketball player Goran Sobin, who among others played for the Spanish Taugrés, He died last night at 59 years of age in the Adriatic city of Split (Croatia) after suffering cardiac arrest, local newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija reported on Monday.

With the Jugoplastika club in Split, the legendary Croatian power forward won two European cups (1989 and 1990) and three Yugoslav leagues (1988, 1989, 1990), as well as three Croatian leagues (1991, 1992, 1993) with the Cibona club from Zagreb.

In the Taugrés de Vitoria, today Saski Baskonia, he played in the 1995-1996 season. His son, Josip Sobin, is also a basketball player in pivot position, today in the Polish League.
