Google’s AirDrop-Like Quick Share on Android: Wi-Fi Issues Reported

Google’s newly launched Quick Share integration, designed to enable seamless file transfers between Android and iOS devices, is already experiencing critical Wi-Fi connectivity issues for some users.

The problem causes Android devices to immediately lose their Wi-Fi connection when the Quick Share menu is opened. This specific issue was first reported by a Pixel 10 user.

Users describe a complete disappearance of available networks from the Wi-Fi menu while Quick Share is active. This prevents any reconnection to existing networks.

The issue emerges shortly after Google had emphasized rigorous testing of the feature. The company stated it conducted threat modeling, security design, privacy reviews, and internal penetration tests to identify and correct vulnerabilities.

Multiple users on online forums have corroborated the bug. They indicate the issue can only be resolved by uninstalling the Quick Share extension update.

The problem was reported on Google’s internal IssueTracker on November 22. However, the report was closed on the same day.

IssueTracker engineers advised the user to redirect the problem to Google’s support forum. Conversely, the support forum team suggested the IssueTracker is the appropriate channel for bug reporting.

This conflicting guidance suggests Google is aware of the problem. However, the company has not yet provided a clear path for resolution or confirmed an active fix.
