The artificial intelligence will transform the way we seek online information and Google is already adapting to these changes. Google Search is working in a new “AI” mode that offers a “permanent place” to ask more questions and obtain answers generated in the style of an artificial intelligence assistant (AI).
The company has put the “IA mode” for search, and it has already begun to be tested for its workers internally. This model uses Gemini 2.0 technology to answer users’ questions, combined with its more traditional search results format. The AI mode would be a tab that is located next to the search filters news, images, purchases, etc.
The AI mode is oriented to open and broad questions that are not currently well addressed by the search results. For example, with this new search engine you can ask for advice with questions such as “How many spaghetti boxes should I buy to feed 6 adults and 10 children, and have enough to repeat?”

When making a consultation, the answer appears on a full screen, with a broader design than the current previous views generated by AI. Unlike traditional format, this version does not include the classics ten blue links, although it offers a side card with the option of «Inquire more on the web». This design follows the line of the descriptions promoted by AI that Google introduced last year and is expected to evolve towards an even more enriched interface in future updates.
In addition, a text field appears at the bottom of the answer that allows you to ask follow-up questions, and in Google’s mobile application for Android and iOS it is also possible to interact through voice commands.
Currently, this new search experience is in the internal test phase between Google employees in the United States. Its launch could occur this year, since the company’s CEO, Pichai Sundar recently said that “2025 will be one of the most important years for innovation in searches so far”.
