Google Search tests visual changes for your Android smartphone

Android 12 brings significant changes to the design of Android smartphones. And this is essentially due to the guidelines of Material You, the latest design language of Google’s mobile operating system.

The next big change should be in Google Search. As 9to5Google discovered, Mountain View tech has started testing a new image display that complies with the Material You ideology.

Google search will adopt the material you design

According to the source, this new layout for displaying images has started to reach some users in the mobile web version of the survey and also in the Android app. For now, it remains available on a limited basis.

As we see in the comparison between the current design and the design that is being tested, the images will continue to occupy a large part of the upper area of the screen. However, the site name is now displayed in a stack format in the upper left corner.

The “x” button to close moves from the top left corner to the right, where we also have the menu button. This now has the options to share and tag content that until now had individual icons.

The image title and page name are highlighted and the ‘visit’ button is moved to the bottom right corner. Related images now have a carousel layout and can be expanded.

It is important to note that these changes only reached a small number of users, and in our tests it was not possible to verify them. As soon as it is available to everyone, we will notify you of the change.
