Accordingly Steve Moser, The latest version of the Google Maps iPhone app contains hidden code references to activities on the Dynamic Island. The feature is still under development and not yet functional in the app.
Live activities enable users of Google Maps View detailed driving directions and estimated time of arrival in a single lock screen notification updated live and in the Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Apple is expected to extend Dynamic Island to all four iPhone 15 models due for launch on September 12 or 13, so it makes sense for Google to roll out this functionality.
Apple has allowed third-party apps to offer the Live Activity feature since the release of iOS 16.1. In February, the Google Maps team said they would be rolling out support for Live Activities “in the coming months,” but the feature isn’t out yet.
