Google’s bet against ChatGPT is Bard, your Artificial Intelligence chatbot. The company introduced this tool for the first time in February. After several months of testing, now they want to take it to the next level. Thus, the company has just announced it at its annual developer conference, Google I / O 2023. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, said “who wants to make artificial intelligence a help tool for everyone.”
The novelty that Bard brings is his global availability, so they no longer have the waiting list. After a trial period in the US and UK, will be available in English in 180 different countries, as well as in Japanese and Korean. The technology company plans to launch it soon in another 40 languages. Google’s goal is to launch a series of functions for AI and thus improve the experience when making queries. Among them, the possibility of integrating it into applications such as Docs, Drive or Gmail.
more visual
Google is making Bard more visual, both in its responses and prompts. The company intends for the AI to not only display text responses, but also provide an image to give a better idea of the search being performed. For example, if a user asks you things like “what places to visit in New York”, in addition to the text, it will show images of the most outstanding area or monuments of the city.
They will also allow you to include images, along with the text, with our own indications. For this to happen, they will use the power of Google Lens directly to Bard. In this way, the user will be able to ask that with a photograph of two dogs that he create “a funny description about these two”. Using Google Lens, Bard will analyze the photo, detect the breeds of the dogs, and compose some creative captions.
Encoding updates and export features
Feedback is key to improving this project. As part of that effort, Google is incorporating developer feedback into some key coding updates:
- Source citations: Starting next week, the appointments will be even more accurate. If Bard brings up a block of code or cites other content, simply click the annotation and Bard will underline those parts of the response and the link to the source.
- dark theme: It will help make the interaction with Bard much easier on the eyes.
- “Export” button: They will add the ability to export and run code with their partner Replit, starting with Python.
