Google introduces Circle to Search for Android

Google has collaborated with Samsung announced a new way to search on Android phones called «Circle to search» or as we would say in Spanish Circle to search. Users using Android are able to Find information from anywhere on your phone using gestures like swiping, highlighting, scribbling, or tapping.

This new way of searching is designed to make the interaction process more natural and faster because it works both with images, texts and videos. In addition, the search does not open in a new application, but appears in a new window at the bottom of the screen.

One of the examples they share is the following: “When something piques our interest (like these adorable dog glasses!), it can be annoying to stop what you're doing and use another app or browser to start looking for information. But now it's possible to search for what's on the screen when curiosity is piqued about something, whether texting friends, browsing social media, or watching a video.«.

This new form of search will be available in all Android phone applications. Therefore, users can interact and immerse themselves in the content more easily.

Circle to search will be started on January 31 worldwide on select Android smartphones High-end, starting with Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and the new Galaxy S24 series. They will then begin bringing the experience to other smartphones.

AI helps you with images

Another new feature they added to improve the multi-search experience is the ability to take a photo of an object and search for something about it using artificial intelligence (AI). This provides the opportunity to ask more complex or nuanced questions about what you see and quickly find and understand important information.

This novelty will be Available in English to everyone in the US this week via the Google Lens app for Android or iOS. Anyone outside the US who has SGE enabled can check out this new experience in the Google app. You can also access AI-powered summaries of multiple search results in Circle Search on Google.

Additionally, the company has announced that it continues to research AI to improve the search experience: “Our goal is to make AI useful for everyone, not just early adopters. In the future, as we continue to experiment and discover which applications of generative AI are most useful, we will introduce it more broadly into search, as we do now with multi-search results..
