Google finally releases the final version of Android 12, but there’s a catch

After months of testing, Google today announced the release of the final and stable version of Android 12. This is the latest version of the most widely used mobile operating system in the world and will soon be coming to your device.

Despite this important milestone, it will not be from today when users will be able to install Android 12 on their smartphones. Not even Pixel users will have access to the new operating system today.

Google makes Android 12 available for AOSP

Breaking with a tradition of years, Google chose to make Android 12 available first in the AOSP (Android Open Source Project). This means that manufacturers already have access to your code, but users will not yet receive it on their devices.

Android 12

In fact, Google promises the availability of Android 12 in the Pixel smartphones in the coming weeks. This means that even they will have to wait a few more days to receive the new version of this operating system.

Brands such as Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, Realme, Tecno and Vivo will be the next to make Android 12 available to their users. Something that will happen, according to Google, at the end of the year.

Unfortunately, Google cannot guarantee adherence to this schedule. Updating smartphones to Android 12 is the sole responsibility of the brands, which means that some will be faster than others to make the software available.

On the part of Google, you have to thank the thousands who contributed for months to the development of Android 12. According to the American company, there were more than 225,000 participants who sent more than 50,000 error reports to the American company.

The main novelties in Android 12

With the release of Android 12, Google moves into the “Material You” era. It is a design concept focused on the user and their preferences, changing colors and schemes according to their tastes.

In effect, the philosophy of the topic is implemented at the system level. This means that the colors will be shaped according to the wallpaper chosen by the user and will have an impact on the different menus of Android 12.

Another key point of the new Google operating system will be user privacy. You will quickly know when the camera and microphone are being used and can easily disable them.

In addition, we have the introduction of a privacy panel where the user will have a set of pertinent information. There you will know, in detail, what data any application collects, in addition to being able to terminate said permissions immediately.
