Google dLight: the smart lamp you’ll want to buy

Google is one of the largest companies in the world with participation in different areas of activity, responsible for software development and production of new hardware. In fact, among its various gadgets we have everything from speakers to thermostats and now a smart desk lamp with a minimalist design, the google light.

Is a smart lamp or lamp with remote control via smartphone and Google Assistant, developed by Californian technology with a pure white finish. It is one of their new gadgets, but they will hardly be able to buy it in Portugal like their Pixel phones.

The name of the product tactilely plays with the words light and delight “delight” in its Anglophone root. Its shape follows Google’s design standards, guided by the simplicity of the lines and the use of pure white as the only tone of the product.

Form, however, follows function and the rounded light source can be adjusted to more or less illuminate the object or area in question. In fact, it can point towards the user or down, as demonstrated above.

Among the wacky products created by today’s biggest tech companies, Google’s lamp is a simple thing, but it’s probably never going to hit stores. In accordance with ben goldGoogle’s designer and source who first unveiled the product, dLight will be, first and foremost, a product only available to Google’s own employees.

The lamp has a USB Type-C port, as well as access to Wi-Fi networks to receive firmware updates via OTA. In addition, it can be controlled by Google Assistant as well as the smartphone, for which a Wi-Fi connection is required.

The product has model number GED7 and uses a 24V (input) LED lamp rated at 14W. For quick setup, it even has a QR code on its base, along with other provenance, construction, and certification information.

In any case, this will be a product intended only for Google employees and should not reach the general market, although there are already users who ask the technology to make the Google dLight lamp available.
