Birthday notifications arrive in Google Contacts

It was in March that this functionality began to take its first steps in the “For You” tab. More recently, users have been able to enable birthday notifications for specific contacts.

Now, as you can see in the image, some users have started seeing the “Add Birthday” card in the “For You” tab. According to the source, this is a function available from version 4.7.26.x of the Google Contacts application for Android.

As with any such feature, it may not yet be available to all users. Once the “Add Birthday” option is selected, users will see a list of contacts.

There you can see the icon of a birthday cake in those that already have a birthday associated with it, and its absence in those that do not have that information. By adding the birthday, you can set the option to receive a notification.

It should be noted that Google is also planning to add birthday reminders to Google Calendar soon.
