Google Cloud and Solana Announce Partnership

Google Cloud has announced in a series of tweets that it has partnered with layer-1 platform Solana (SOL). It announced that it is now running a “block producing validator” on the Solana blockchain to join and validate the network.

However, it didn’t stop with just this announcement. Google Cloud recently launched a blockchain node engine with support for Ethereum (ETH). With this, Google Cloud offers a fully managed node hosting service for web3 developers. Now the plan is to bring the blockchain node engine to the Solana network next year.

Speaking at Solana’s ‘Breakdown’ conference, Google Web3 product manager Nalin Mittal said the following about this new support for the blockchain node engine:

“We want to make it possible to run a Solana node in a cost-effective way with just one click.”

The third and final announcement concerns the developers of the network. Google Cloud will help index Solana’s data and add it to its BigQuery data warehouse. This step will make it easier for developers to access old data. Mittal has said that this feature will launch in the first quarter of 2023.

Also, Google Cloud will make its credit program available to “select startups in the Solana ecosystem,” with up to $100,000 in Cloud Credits available to applicants.

Google Cloud accepts crypto payments

Google Cloud has also reminded all people in the series of tweets that they will soon be accepting crypto payments via Coinbase Commerce.

In an announcement, the company writes the following about what exactly its partnership with Coinbase means:

Today, Google Cloud and Coinbase announced a new long-term strategic partnership to better serve the growing web3 ecosystem and its developers. The partnership means Coinbase will select Google Cloud as a strategic cloud provider to build advanced exchange and data services.”

As part of this partnership, the company will also allow select users to purchase cloud storage on the platform using cryptocurrencies.
