Alarm bells are ringing across the corporate world after Google revealed a concerning new threat. A group of hackers is sending extortion emails to numerous executives. These emails make a chilling claim: they have stolen sensitive data from Oracle E-Business, a software platform commonly used by businesses. The messages did not disclose any specific ransom amounts.
Google’s statement noted that the hackers sending these emails appear to be linked to the Cl0p ransomware group. The emails went out to leaders in many different organizations. They all made the same serious claim about data theft from the Oracle E-Business software.
However, Google also stressed an important point. Right now, there is not enough proof to fully confirm the hackers’ claims. It remains unclear how much truth these threats hold. Reuters, a news agency, has tried to reach Cl0p and Oracle, the company behind Oracle E-Business, for comments. Neither has responded yet. Google, in an email to Reuters, called the incident a “large-scale attack plan” but offered no more details.
