Google Chrome Simplifies Mobile Access to AI, Incognito Mode

Google is enhancing its Chrome browser for mobile devices, introducing streamlined access to artificial intelligence features and private browsing directly within the user interface. This initiative reflects the company’s ongoing effort to simplify navigation and address user feedback regarding an overwhelming array of options within the browser.

New “pill-shaped” buttons for AI Mode and Incognito Mode are now prominently featured on the new tab page for both iOS and Android. These buttons are positioned just below the main search bar, ensuring immediate visibility and quick access by pushing other content, such as the favicon carousel and Discover feed, further down the page.

The updated design allows users to launch a private browsing session faster than navigating through traditional menus. For even quicker access, mobile users can long-press the Chrome app icon on their home screen to open a private session directly. The AI Mode button instantly directs users to the relevant AI functions.

Similar shortcuts were first introduced on the desktop version of Chrome, where the new tab page acts as a primary entry point for AI experiences. Google has also integrated AI interaction directly into the Omnibar, or address bar, on desktop, eliminating the need for a separate tab.

These changes underscore Google’s commitment to making advanced AI tools and private browsing features more intuitive and readily available across its platforms. The company aims to optimize the user experience by prioritizing essential resources through direct, visible integration.
