Google CEO Hopes Apple Will Integrate Gemini AI into iPhone Devices

Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently testified in court, revealing that he hopes Gemini, Google’s AI service, will be integrated into iPhones.

Apple already has its own AI service, Apple Intelligence, which relies on its large language models. It’s available on iPhones, iPads, and Macs. However, Apple’s language model isn’t advanced enough yet. To improve Siri, Apple is connecting it to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Users must consent to this connection, and their data is stored and processed by OpenAI.

Pichai said Gemini could be another AI option for Apple products. He has discussed this with Apple CEO Tim Cook several times in 2024 and hopes to finalize the deal this year.

A Long-Standing Partnership

Apple and Google have been business partners for a long time. In the past, iOS came with YouTube and Google Maps pre-installed. Their most significant deal is Google Search being the default on Safari. This partnership is at the center of the US government’s antitrust case against Google.

Apple is set to announce new operating system versions at its WWDC event on June 9. The updates will include iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and a new macOS version.
