Samsung confirmed this week that Google Assistant will soon no longer be available on its smart TVs, including existing models.

According to a Samsung support page, Starting March 1st, Google Assistant functionality will be removed from all supported devices.

“Due to a Google policy change, Google Assistant will no longer be available on Samsung TVs starting March 1, 2024. Explore other voice assistant options on Samsung TVs.” states the company.

Devices affected by this change include all 2022 and 2021 Smart TV models, 2020 QLED 8K and 4K TVs, 2020 Crystal UHD TVs, and 2020 Lifestyle TVs.

If you still want to use a voice assistant on these televisions, you will have to turn to available alternatives such as Samsung’s own virtual assistant Bixby or Amazon Alexa.

Although Samsung mentions a “Google policy change” that prevents continued support for Assistant, it is not entirely clear what the South Korean manufacturer is referring to. Google Assistant is available on virtually all Android TV and Google TV products, and as of 2020, Samsung announced that it would provide support for its televisions.

However, Last year, Samsung started moving away from Google Assistant. as the functionality suddenly disappeared from Samsung’s 2023 Smart TV series without any explanation.
