For years, Android users have wished their phones and tablets could just talk to each other. We’ve all been there: starting something on one device, only to wish it would magically appear on another. It seems Google has finally heard those whispers, and a long-awaited feature is on its way.
New findings in the Google Play Services beta, version 25.25.31, hint at a fresh multi-device sync tool. It’s called “App Cast.” This feature looks set to let you move seamlessly between your Android devices. Imagine picking up a task on your phone right where you left off on your tablet.
This is a big step for Android. For years, Apple users have enjoyed a similar feature called Handoff. It lets them switch tasks between their iPhones, iPads, and Macs using iCloud. Google’s App Cast aims to bring that same easy flow to the Android world. Code reviews show it will sync apps, media, and even notifications across your connected Android gadgets.
You might know Samsung Galaxy devices already have something like this, called App Continuity. Google’s new system will make it easier to answer calls, share files, and keep notifications in sync. The best part is, this won’t be just for one brand. It’s designed to work across all Android manufacturers and their devices. This is exactly what users have been hoping for.
One huge win for multi-device users will be notification syncing. No more clearing the same notification on your phone, then your tablet, and then your smartwatch. It just disappears everywhere. At first, it wasn’t clear if this feature would only come to Pixel phones. But the new code suggests it will roll out to all Android devices, which is great news.
Google’s goal is simple: make using Android across multiple devices feel much more connected. This unified experience will be a game changer for many. We don’t have a firm date yet for when everyone will get this feature. Still, it’s clear Google is working hard to knit the Android experience together. Soon, moving between your different devices might feel like magic.
