Google is preparing to give Android a feature that some users have been waiting for a long time. What is at stake is the ability to clone applications on your operating system.
Simplifying the theme, it will now be possible to use two windows of the same application side by side. Ideal for those who, for example, have two accounts on a social network.
This is not a revolutionary feature, as many companies already offer it in their software. Thus, we can say that Google only sins because of the late launch of this function.
Android app mirroring is already in the testing phase
This news was found and made public by MIshaal Rahman. While searching the Android 12 source code, the programmer came across a new profile called “clone”.
This will allow Android users to create a copy of any application present on their smartphone. It could be ideal for those who use the same device for work and play.
Technically, it was already possible to obtain the same result on Android, but it is far from being an easy process for any user. It is possible to do this by defining a professional profile, but few people know about this process.
Soon, this maneuver will no longer be necessary, as Android will natively support application cloning. No tricks or juggling, everything will be done intuitively.
For now, Android app cloning is still far from perfect for regular use. Rahman notes that it is already possible to configure this in the AOSP version of Android 12, but it is still very unstable and buggy.
Therefore, it is important to wait until Google officially makes this feature available on your operating system. Hopefully it can be rolled out in the next update for Android 12.1 which should be out by the end of the year.
