Good news for passengers: Saudi Arabia’s new airline

RIYADH: The Saudi government plans to launch a new airline service in the kingdom, in view of which it has also started negotiations to buy 40 new aircraft from a European company.

In this regard, the sources of the Saudi aviation industry have said that negotiations are ongoing regarding the order of A350 aircraft from the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus.

British news agencies Reuters reports If confirmed, the purchase by the $12 billion sovereign wealth fund (PIF) could be announced this week, the sources said, citing sources.

According to the sources, the center of the new airline of Saudi Arabia will be the capital Riyadh, while the official airline will operate from Jeddah.

It is unclear whether Boeing will carry much of the shopping list for the new airline, which has been named RIA, the sources said.

The PIF is in talks to buy about 75 aircraft and another source said the kingdom is leaning towards the Boeing 787.

According to the news, neither Airbus nor Boeing gave any kind of response regarding this news, while the PIF also did not immediately respond to the news of Reuters.

One of the sources said any trade deal would still have to win political approval.
