Good news for electricity consumers, possibility of getting big relief

Tokyo: There is good news for electricity consumers, there is a possibility of price reduction for two months.

According to details, the government in Japan is likely to give temporary relief in electricity bills to domestic consumers.

Many households in Japan are expecting lower electricity bills in February and March as the government’s economic relief package takes effect this month, but bills are also likely to rise later in the year.

According to the report of a foreign news agency, the government will give a discount of seven yen per kilowatt hour to domestic consumers from January this year. It aims to ease the burden of rising energy prices.

This discount will be applied on the bills from February. Average household bills are expected to fall by up to 1,800 yen, or about $13, from a month ago, but electricity companies are planning to raise prices in the coming months.

Five power companies, Tohoku, Hokuriku, Chugoku, Shikoku and Okinawa, have petitioned the government for price increases since April.

Tokyo and Hokkaido Electric Power Co. are following suit, seeking approval for the June increase.
