Gonsolin takes ninth win and improves earned run percentage to 1.58

Tony Gonsolin became the first pitcher in the majors to reach nine wins this season, Freddie Freeman drove in five runs and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Cincinnati Reds 8-2 on Tuesday.

Gonsolin (9-0) gave up two runs and three hits over five innings on 87 pitches. He mainly resorted to the four-seam fastball, spiced it up with the splitter and slider.

The 28-year-old righty has a 1.58 ERA.

Of the three hits Gonsolin allowed, two were solo home runs. Jonathan India got one in the top of the first inning and Albert Almora Jr. did the same in the second.

Four Dodgers relievers pitched scoreless innings to end the game.

Starter Tyler Mahle (2-6) was lucky to allow just four runs in six innings. He gave up 12 hits but left eight runners stranded on the bases.

Latin Americans batted for neither of the two teams.
