God of War: Ragnarok is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games by the PS5 and PS4 community. And while we thought we had a chance to get our hands on the title in 2021, Sony and the Santa Monica studio showered our hopes in June 2021 by announcing the postponement of God of War Ragnarok to 2022.

Unsurprisingly, the publisher justified this delay due to of the difficulties caused by the global Covid-19 pandemic : “We remain focused on delivering a very high quality experience, while ensuring the safety and well-being of our team, our creative partners, and our families. With this in mind, we have decided to shift the exit window to 2022 ″, Sony explained then.

Far from questioning Sony’s word, Kratos official voice actor Christopher Judge (known for his role as Teal’c in the Stargate SG-1 series) on Twitter that he is also responsible for this postponement. As they explain through several posts on the social network, his health problems that occurred in 2019 kept him away from recording studios and fatally impacted the development of the game.

Kratos voice actor claims to be responsible for the postponement of God of War Ragnarok

I have to be frank. This was not approved by anyone. To the beloved fan community, Ragnarok has been postponed because of me. In August 2019, I could no longer walk. I had back surgery, had both hips replaced, and had knee surgery. They waited for me to complete my rehabilitation ”, tells the interpreter of the famous demigod.

No threats, no “Who do you think you are?” Nothing but love and support. And Sony and Santa Monica never said a single word about the postponement, and what caused it. The studios are bloats, but this company, from top to bottom, had to give us hope. What they have for the team is much more ”, he assures grateful.

Fun fact, the actor evokes his wish not to return to the second opus, after learning that Cory Barlog, director of the 2018 reboot and other franchise titles, was not going to be in charge of Ragnarok. “One last thing. Barlog told me in Tribeca (nldr: famous film and video game festival in New York) that he wouldn’t realize what happened next. I resigned. He said “Do you trust me?” (yes) He said Eric is a beast. I said he had better… Update, Eric Williams (director of GOW Ragnarok) is a fucking beast!“, Concludes Christopher Judge on Twitter. Note that Sony has not yet officially reacted to the comments made by the actor.
