Spar Girona sneaks into another cup semi-final with hardly any disheveled hair (89-41). Alfred Julbe’s men finished off Movistar Estudiantes in the first quarter with a 16-0 run that made it 35-12 at the end of that opening round. The difference, from there, did not stop growing. Frida Eldebrink, who went into the break with 13 points (and 3/4 in triples) placed +30 for the cup champion (45-15) with more than six minutes to go before the break. The income in the break was already 36 (56-20) and the superiority of Girona, also overwhelming in shooting (21/41 versus 8/35) and in rebounding (29, with 11 offensive, to 12).
In the third quarter, Mendy, in a counterattack, extended Girona’s lead to forty (60-20) which reached 48 with the final score (89-41). Spar’s success in the outside shot was decisive: he finished the game with 14/32 shooting beyond the 6.75 line (43.7% with 4/6 for Eldebrink). Julbe distributed minutes, because in less than 24 hours they have the semifinals against Valencia Basket or Casademont Zaragoza (this Saturday at 5:30 p.m.), but Girona did not stop stepping on the accelerator with four players above ten points: Eldebrink (16), Mendy (13), Reisingerova (11) and Onyenwere (11). On the part of the students, Arica Carter was too lonely (11).
