Last night marked an important chapter in the career of young 18-year-old midfielder Gabriel Misehouy, whose contract with Ajax expires in June 2024. An expedition from Girona traveled to Amsterdam to attend the exciting Eredivisie match between Ajax and Groningen, which ended in a surprise 0-1 win in favor of the latter.
According to Voetbal International, the Spanish team's presence at the stadium did not go unnoticed as they were there to closely follow Misehouy's performance. The young midfielder, of Ghanaian origin but Dutch citizen, has been an important part of Jong Ajax (Ajax B) throughout the season. He has demonstrated his skills with impressive statistics: he scored seven goals and provided three assists in just twelve competitive games, despite missing nine games due to injury.
They tried to sign him in the summer
The interest in Misehouy is not new. Last August, he publicly expressed his displeasure at Ajax's lack of opportunities in the first team. In a post on Instagram, he questioned the patience and time he had to prove his worth. Although he deleted that post shortly afterward, his frustration was evident.
The young Dutch talent has been on the radar of big clubs such as Chelsea, Lille, Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund since last summer and has proven his potential and attractiveness in the transfer market.
