Girl killed, 7 injured in police firing in Pakistan

A nine-year-old girl was shot dead by a policeman at the gate of a private school in Swat district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Seven other people, including a teacher and a student, were injured.

Swat Police DPO Shafiullah Gandharpur said that a case has been filed against Constable Alam Khan after arresting him in this incident on Tuesday. News – Dawn and NDTV.

He said that the injured have been admitted to Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital in Swat. An injured student admitted to the hospital told Dawn that the suspect started firing indiscriminately as soon as the van carrying them crossed the school gate.

Malala Yousafzai, then a school student, was seriously injured in a terrorist attack in Pakistan’s Swat Valley in 2012. He was fatally injured when a gunman opened fire on a school bus. After being unconscious for a few days, he slowly recovered with the intensive efforts of the doctors. Later, this Pakistani education activist won the Nobel Peace Prize at the youngest age.
