Gigantes del Cibao sign free agent Carlos de la Cruz

he Gigantes del Cibao announced the signing of free agent Carlos de la Cruz with a view to his participation in the next Dominican professional baseball season.

General Manager Luis Urueta welcomed the new Giant and highlighted him as a talented player with extra-base hits.

Carlos de la Cruz, 23, is a right-handed hitter with five seasons of minor league experience with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he is currently listed as the No. 9 prospect in the organization.

He is currently playing in Double A, where he maintains a .290 average with 37 RBIs and a .361 OBP in 68 regular series games, where he has also hit 13 doubles.

De la Cruz has also hit 14 home runs, a triple and has managed to score 48 times for the Reading Fightin Phils team.

Since 2018 in the minor leagues, Carlos de la Cruz has participated in 393 games from Rookie to Double A, where he hits a .248 average with a .315 OBP, 49 home runs, 181 RBIs and 69 doubles.

General Manager Luis Urueta also said that the arrival of Carlos de la Cruz provides depth to the Gigantes del Cibao in the 1B position and in any of the three OF positions.

The Gigantes del Cibao continue to work on building a good team for the next winter baseball season that will begin in October.
