Giant 410kg Crocodile Invades Malaysian Palm Oil Plantation, Captured by Locals.

A massive 410-kilogram crocodile was caught in a palm oil plantation in Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia, after it wandered close to residential areas. The female crocodile, measuring 4.5 meters in length, was first spotted by plantation workers who alerted others, and a joint effort was made to capture it before wildlife authorities arrived.

Community Effort Leads to Safe Capture

Residents and workers banded together to restrain the large reptile using available materials. The operation was successful, with no injuries reported. The crocodile was later transferred to a safer location by authorities, including firefighters and wildlife experts.

The capture was carried out by a team from the Pengarum Fire Station, supported by the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, and the Civil Defense Unit. Mohd Nur Eddy Paiman, the operation commander, confirmed that the crocodile was safely relocated.

Concerns Over Habitat Encroachment

This is not the first time a crocodile has been spotted in the area. A similar incident occurred three years ago in the same plantation. Experts believe that habitat encroachment and development near waterways may be contributing to the increased sightings. The plantation is located just 300 meters from a river, which is likely the crocodile’s origin.

In recent years, Malaysia has seen a rise in crocodile sightings, including in urban areas. Wildlife authorities are urging the public to report any crocodile encounters to prevent potential dangers.
