What can you do with Apple AirTag? It’s basically a great device to put your keys to your house or in your backpack to locate them using the Find app on your iPhone or Mac. What happens if you lose the device with its AirTag?
If it’s at home, it has a built-in speaker that you can activate in the app. Just follow that sound from the speaker to locate something lost under the sofa or in the next room. If it’s nearby, your iPhone will show you the way to the exact location with ultra-wideband technology.
The great potential, of course, is if you miss something on the go, say at the beach or the gym. Thanks to the Find network, made up of iPhones, Macs or iPads from all over the world, it can be easy to locate your lost item linked to the AirTag.
Basically, your AirTag sends out a secure Bluetooth signal that can be detected by nearby Find network devices. These send the AirTag location to iCloud, which you can access in the Find My app and see the lost item on the map. The entire process is anonymous and encrypted.
It is also possible to put your AirTag in lost mode so that it sends an automatic notification as soon as the network detects it. If you configure the AirTag with your contact details, the person only needs to touch it with an NFC-enabled smartphone.
