German Airline Lufthansa: German airline Lufthansa’s logistics and ticketing workers went on a one-day strike on Wednesday forcing the airline to cancel more than 1,000 flights. According to a report by the German news agency DPA, about 1.34 lakh passengers have suffered due to such large-scale cancellations of Lufthansa flights. They have either had to cancel their trip or have to plan afresh. Earlier on Tuesday also 47 flights of the airline were canceled.

Negotiations on salary failed

Flights from Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, Bremen, Hanover, Stuttgart and Cologne were also cancelled, in addition to the main centers of the German leading airline located in Frankfurt and Munich. The airline has urged passengers not to come to the airport in view of the ground staff strike, saying most of the counters are lying vacant. The union of employees providing ticketing and logistics services of the airline at the airports had announced to go on strike on Monday itself. The strike came after talks with the airline management on wage and remuneration issues failed.

The Ver D Service Workers’ Union had called for a strike

A German union called on Lufthansa ground staff on Wednesday to go on a one-day strike over a wage dispute. The Ver de Service workers’ union said on Monday that the strike called for all places in Germany where Lufthansa is located.
