Geraldo Perdomo decides the victory of the D-Backs

Geraldo Perdomo hit a two-out, two-run single in the eighth inning and made a spectacular ground ball catch an inning later to protect the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 6-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Friday.

The Rockies entered the seventh with a 5-2 lead, but the Diamondbacks pulled one back on Josh Rojas’ two-run double in that inning.

Arizona continued its comeback and, an inning later and with runners on second and third base, Perdomo hit a soft drive to right-center field that beat second baseman Brendan Rodgers’ jumper.

Alex Colome (2-5) took the loss by giving up both runs in the eighth and Chris Devenski (1-0) claimed the win with a one-hit inning. Ian Kennedy pitched the ninth for his sixth save.

For the Rockies, Cuban José Iglesias 5-1, with an RBI. The Venezuelans Elías Díaz 4-1; Yonathan Daza 4-2, with a run scored and an RBI. Dominican Elehuris Montero 4-2, with a run scored and two RBIs.

For the Diamondbacks, the Dominicans Ketel Marte 4-1, with one produced; Geraldo Perdomo 3-1, with one scored and two RBIs. Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rivera 1-1, with two runs scored.

Kansas 4

Xander Bogaerts had four hits, Alex Verdugo had a pair of doubles and the Boston Red Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 7-4 on Friday.

Mexico’s Verdugo had three hits as Boston tied the four-game series at one win apiece. Josh Winckowski (5-5) gave up one run on five hits over five innings for Boston.

Zack Greinke (3-7) gave up four runs and seven hits in 4 2-3 innings for Kansas City.

The Red Sox got on the scoreboard in the second when former Royals player Eric Hosmer doubled down the right-field line to score Verdugo.

Boston added two more runs in the fourth inning. JD Martí Venezuelan Salvador Pérez hit a 454-foot home run in the fifth inning for Kansas City.

For the Red Sox, the Dominican Rafael Devers 4-0. The Mexican Verdugo 4-3 with two runs scored. The Venezuelan Yolmer Sánchez 3-2.

For the Royals, the Venezuelan Pérez -1 with a run scored and an RBI.

Anaheim 4 Mariners 3

Taylor Ward’s sacrifice fly drove in Magneuris Sierra for the decisive run in the 10th inning and the Los Angeles Angels blew a late three-run lead on Friday before rallying to a 4-3 win over the Seattle Mariners.

The Angels entered the bottom of the ninth with a 3-0 lead, but Seattle scored three times with two outs to force the extra.

Ward’s fly ball off Paul Sewald (3-3) went deep enough for Sierra to score easily and put the Angels back in control. Jimmy Herget pitched a perfect final inning for his second save of the season.

Jesse Chavez (2-1) scored the win after a three-hit, three-run inning. Sewald took the slip after giving up the score that decided the game.

For the Angels, the Venezuelan Luis Rengifo 4-2, with a run scored. Dominican Magneuris Sierra 4-2, with a run scored.

For the Mariners, the Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez 4-0. Dominican Carlos Santana 3-0.
