Genk Resumes Winning Form Ahead of Braga Europa League Challenge

Genk secured a crucial domestic victory this past weekend, building momentum ahead of a challenging Europa League clash against undefeated Sporting de Braga. The Belgian club defeated Westerlo 1-0 on Saturday in their national league.

The lone goal came in the 35th minute from South Korean forward Hyeon-Gyu Oh. This win ended a run of two consecutive draws for Genk in league play.

Genk also recently qualified for the Belgian Cup round of 16. They beat second-division team RWDM Brussels 3-0 at home mid-week.

These recent successes offer a boost to Genk, who currently hold four points from three matches in the Europa League group stage. They are set to face a formidable Sporting de Braga side.

Braga maintains a perfect record in the competition, leading their group. The Portuguese club shares the top spot with Denmark’s Midtjylland and France’s Lyon, managed by Paulo Fonseca.

The pivotal Europa League match is scheduled for Thursday at 8:00 PM local time (UTC+1). It will take place at the Estádio Municipal de Braga in Portugal.
