Gedeón Guardiola to Miss Paris Preparations Due to Injury

Coach Gedeon Guardiola will unfortunately miss the second stage of Spain’s preparation phase for the Paris Olympic Games due to a muscle injury in his left leg. The player, from BM Nava, needs to rest to allow the injury to fully heal.

In his place, coach Jordi Ribera has called up pivot Adrià Figueras from French club Chartres. Figueras will join the team for the second phase of preparation, which takes place from June 30 to July 7 in Esplugues de Llobregat, Catalonia. During this period, Spain is set to play two friendly matches with Argentina, one in Montpellier on July 4 and another in Esplugues de Llobregat on July 6.

Spain’s preparation schedule concludes with a third concentration in Norway from July 11 to 18. After that, the team will head to Madrid before departing for the Paris Olympics on July 22.
