GCC meeting condemns Houthi rebel attacks on Saudi Arabia, reiterates support for Palestinians

Riyadh: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has condemned attacks by Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia and reiterated its support for Palestine, while Yemen’s foreign minister has called the Houthi uprising a humanitarian crisis.

Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan led the Saudi delegation. A statement was issued at the end of the meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council Foreign Ministers.

The statement said that the meeting jointly condemned the attacks of Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia and called on the GCC to continue its efforts to promote peace and security in the region.

The GCC countries called for the implementation of the Riyadh agreement to meet the challenges of the Houthi rebels, while the Gulf foreign ministers reiterated their support for Yemen’s constitutional government.

The statement also condemned the attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman a few weeks ago, reiterated the GCC’s common unshakable stance on the Palestinian issue, and agreed to increase all levels of cooperation and cooperation to address the member states’ challenges.

Addressing the meeting, the Yemeni foreign minister said that the Houthi uprising had created a humanitarian crisis in Yemen, while the Iraqi foreign minister said that they wanted common interests, a strategic agreement for stronger ties, and were working to improve and balance relations with Beirut. , Iraq is keen to promote cooperation in all areas.
