Gautam Gambhir’s Absence Sparks Debate on Team India’s Interim Head Coach

The Indian cricket team has arrived in England for a five-match test series. Shubman Gill will lead the team, with Rishabh Pant as his deputy. However, head coach Gautam Gambhir has returned to India due to a family emergency.

Gambhir’s mother suffered a heart attack, prompting his immediate return. Fortunately, she is now out of danger. With her condition improving, Gambhir is expected to rejoin the team by June 17.

In his absence, the team is currently without a head coach. If Gambhir can’t return before June 20, an interim coach will be appointed. VVS Laxman, director of the National Cricket Academy, is the top contender for the role.

Other potential interim coaches include batting coach Shitanshu Kotak and bowling coach Morne Morkel. The team’s management will make a decision based on Gambhir’s availability.
