Gautam Gambhir wants a captain in all three formats, he told this player that he is the perfect candidate

After leaving Virat Kohli’s trial captaincy, former players hold different opinions for the next captain. Some say Rishabh Pant better and others talk about handing over the command of the test team to KL Rahul. The names of R Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah are also discussed. However, in the midst of all this, the name of Rohit Sharma, the captain of the T20 and ODI team, is visible in the foreground. Most cricketers advocate Rohit Sharma as captain of the test team. The name of former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is also included in this list. Gambhir wants there to be only one captain in all three formats of cricket and Rohit Sharma is the best candidate for this.

Gambhir has penned thoughts on India’s next test team captain in an article written for a newspaper. He wrote: ‘I think Rohit Sharma should be the India team captain in all formats of cricket and KL Rahul should be his deputy. The one captain formula across all formats will ensure consistency in the way the Indian team plays and approaches. Especially considering that there is another T20 World Cup to be played later this year.

Gambhir writes: ‘Between the last Test series and ODI, the news of Virat leaving the captaincy dominated all the time. I think it’s a personal decision and you have to take it as such. I would also say that Virat has left the Indian Test team in good shape.

It should be noted that last year Virat Kohli had announced leaving the captaincy of Team India in T20. The T20 World Cup was the last T20 tournament played under his captaincy. Following this he was also stripped of the ODI match captaincy. BCCI officials argued behind this that the board only wants one captain in the limited overs format. Following this, after losing the Test series against South Africa in January this year, Virat also decided to step down as captain of Test cricket.
