Gautam Gambhir Seeks Blessings At Kamakhya Temple Ahead England Tour

India’s test team is gearing up to face England in a five-match test series starting June 20. Before the big match, head coach Gautam Gambhir visited the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati to seek blessings. This series marks the beginning of India’s World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.

Gambhir was spotted with a red mark on his forehead and a red scarf around his neck. The upcoming series is crucial for him, especially after the team’s recent losses to New Zealand and Australia under his coaching.

India’s Test Record Under Gambhir

So far, India has played three test series under Gambhir’s coaching, winning only one. They defeated Bangladesh 2-0 at home but suffered a 3-0 loss to New Zealand in their own backyard. This setback jeopardized India’s chances of making it to the WTC final. The team also lost 1-3 to Australia.

A New Era for Indian Test Cricket

After Rohit Sharma’s test retirement, Shubman Gill has taken over as the captain of the Indian test team, with Rishabh Pant as his deputy. The test team for the England tour has seen some changes, with Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur making a comeback, while Harshit Rana, Mohammed Shami, and Sarfaraz Khan have been dropped.
