Gausman strikes out 11, Blue Jays beat Brewers 3-1

Kevin Gausman went 6 2/3 scoreless innings to string together wins in starts for the first time this season, Bo Bichette and Matt Chapman homered and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 Thursday.

Gausman (4-3) struck out 11 and reached 100 on the season to displace the Angels’ Shohei Ohtani (89) for the AL top spot. Gausman allowed five hits and two walks.

Jordan Romano finished for his 13th save in 16 chances.

The Brewers have lost five of seven.

Bichette and Chapman homered off Freddy Peralta (5-5) as part of a three-run first inning.

For the Brewers, Venezuelan Andruw Monasterio 4-1.

For the Blue Jays, the Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 4-1.
