Gattuso Believes in Italy for World Cup, Addresses Udine Match Tensions

Italy’s path to the World Cup is looking rough, with Norway holding a significant lead in Group I. Direct qualification is truly in doubt. Yet, for national coach Gennaro Gattuso, quitting is not an option. He’s clinging to hope, urging his squad forward.

Gattuso openly admitted the team needs to get better. He specifically mentioned their “ability to spot danger.” He stressed that players must “never take anything for granted.” Even so, he made a firm promise: every single player will give their absolute best effort. The stakes are simply too high for anything less.

While the team faces Estonia this Saturday, all eyes are really on the match against Israel next Tuesday. Gattuso shared his deep sadness about wider global events. “It hurts me to see what’s happening,” he said, speaking about innocent people and children dying. It was a heartfelt moment of reflection.

He then shifted back to the upcoming game, anticipating a tough setting. “The vibe in Udine will be difficult,” Gattuso explained. “There will be 5,000 people inside the stadium. Another 10,000 will be right outside.” Despite these distractions and the challenging environment, his message was clear: “But we know we have to play.” The mission remains fixed.
