The Gamemaster has ended an excellent career with a meeting with the media attended by, on behalf of the FEB and Spanish basketball, the director of competitions, Elisa Aguilar, and the technical director, José Ignacio Hernández.
The President of the Spanish Basketball Federation, Jorge Garbajosa, valued the brilliant career of Laia Palau at the time of his withdrawal. “I’m sure it’s the perfect day to do it because I know her and she always makes the best decisions, but it is also a day that makes us sad because Laia Palau retires”.
Thus, she has described the player with the most caps with La Familia, as “an iconic figure of the sport of our country” who has given everything on the pitch, but also off it, since his influence goes “far beyond”.
“The only thing we can do is thank you, eternal recognitionwho already had it with the national team and has it in her club, with which she feels very identified, and he will always have it on the part of Spanish sportnot just women’s sports,” added the president, who in turn insisted that Laia “will always have a privileged place” in the history of national sports.
“This does not mean that his basketball career ends here, I am sure that with what he loves this sport, he will continue to be linked to basketball in the coming years and will continue to contribute from another point of view”, he indicated.
