Bangkok is actively positioning itself as a burgeoning global gaming hub, with the combined gamescom asia and Thailand Game Show event serving as a key platform to attract international attention and foster local industry growth. The four-day mega-event, scheduled for October 16-19, 2025, is set to significantly expand its scale at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
Senior government officials emphasized Thailand’s ambition to become a leading player in the digital economy. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas highlighted the event’s potential to open global business opportunities for Thai talent.
Minister of Digital Economy and Society Chaiyanok Chidchob underscored the “power of creativity” he observed, viewing it as a significant economic opportunity, not just entertainment. Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthapol Nimmanphatcharin, President of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), described the event as a “space for cooperation” strengthening the Thai game industry’s ecosystem for sustainable global growth.
The collaboration brings together gamescom asia, known for its business focus, and the player-centric Thailand Game Show, aiming for a “new chapter” in regional gaming, according to Mathias Kuepper, Managing Director and Vice President Asia-Pacific for Koelnmesse. Vintradit Konlasatseni, Digital Media President at True Digital Group Co., Ltd., expressed pride in bringing a “global stage and opportunities” to Thai gamers and publishers.
During the opening ceremony, legendary game developer Glen Schofield, known for co-creating “Dead Space” and “Call of Duty,” received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Ekniti linked this recognition to the aspirations of Thai youth, hoping it would inspire local talent to achieve similar global acclaim.
The event is set to feature booths from over 150 companies, including major publishers like CAPCOM, HoYoverse, Konami, Bandai Namco, Xbox, and PlayStation. A new Indie Game Zone will offer over 100 playable titles.
Other highlights include the Zone Zean Game, where Singaporean EVO champion Ho Kun Xian will challenge players in Street Fighter 6, and a Cosplay Contest with a new “Best All Star” category for international champions. The event also plans Meet & Greet sessions with streamers and game casters, alongside the Thailand Game Awards for hardware enthusiasts.
Pongsuk Hiranprueck, CEO of Show No Limit Co., Ltd., affirmed the readiness for collaboration and play, stating, “We’re ready to make. We’re ready to Join. We’re ready to cooperate, and We’re ready to play.” Sponsors for the event include Synex Thailand, GeForce NOW powered by bro.game, and AEON Thana Sinsap.
