Gallardo assured that he will not leave River before December

River’s coach, Marcelo Gallardo, clarified this Friday that he will stay at the club until the “end” of the contract in December and then decide his future, amid the rumors that put him in the race to take over in Barcelona.

“I was wondering whether or not to do the conference after seeing what was said about my departure to Barcelona and I knew they were going to ask me. Everyone knows that my thinking and my decision is to fulfill the contract I have and in no way have reasons to distract me with other people’s thoughts. I stay until the end of my contract, “said the DT at the press conference.

“I have the commitment to continue connected with what it represents to be the River coach, it never crossed my mind to leave the club,” he argued in front of the different questions. In addition, Gallardo did not say whether or not he was contacted from Barcelona, as the Catalan media assured, because “it does not make sense and it does not change anything.”

The need to play well

Beyond its contractual issue, the other axis of the River coach’s conference was Sunday’s game against Boca, in which it will be played with the public for the first time since the pandemic began. In that sense, Gallardo made it clear that his team must have a good game if they want to win. “We need to play well to beat Boca and try to be superior. In this game, at this present time, I get the impression that we are even in conditions,” said the Doll, referring to the lift that Boca evidenced from the arrival of Sebastián Battaglia to the technical direction.

Regarding the return of the fans, Gallardo was very happy to be able to play with the public. “The return of the people is a joy, we will be able to provide football for those who are on the field, it has a different tone. That in itself gives us a different motivation to the last games since 2020,” he stressed. “Football without the public is not the same, beyond the professionalism that we put into each game. It will be very nice, we are eager to meet again,” acknowledged the DT in what could be his last classic.

For Gallardo, the fact that some youth players have not played with fans in the stands is not a cause for concern. “For some footballers it will be the first time with the public and it will be a novelty, but I do not take it as a burden but as something that they have dreamed of since they were children. Playing this type of game, with this framework, is a beautiful possibility”, River’s coach synthesized.

The possible team to play against Boca would be Franco Armani; Milton Casco, Robert Rojas, Paulo Díaz and Fabrizio Angileri; Enzo Fernández, Enzo Pérez, Nicolás De La Cruz; Jorge Carrascal; Brian Romero and Julián Álvarez.
