Galaxy Tab S8: Samsung would bet on Snapdragon 898 over Exynos 2200

The Galaxy Tab S8s, Samsung’s next high-end tablets, would be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 instead of the Exynos 2200, reveals a famous insider. In the process, the leaker revealed the size of the batteries integrated into the slates and also the fast charging technology that will be offered.

Last year, Samsung released the Galaxy Tab S7, a new generation of Android tablets to compete with Apple’s iPad Pro. The line has had tremendous success, especially in South Korea. Of course, chaebol has released several other more affordable versions, including the Galaxy Tab S7 FE and the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite.

Now, Samsung prepares to launch the Galaxy Tab S8, direct successors of the Galaxy Tab S7. According to information obtained by Ice Universe, famous informant in the world of technology, the South Korean manufacturer would like power the three tablets in the line with a Snapdragon 898 SoC, the future high-end chipset from Qualcomm.

Launch in early 2022 with 45W fast charging

Samsung wouldn’t bet on the Exynos 2200, an AMD RDNA GPU SoC house under development in its labs, nor on a previous-generation Qualcomm SoC. Under these conditions, the manufacturer would have chosen to postpone the launch of the Galaxy Tab S8 for several months, probably by the first quarter of 2022.

In fact, the release of the Snapdragon 898 is scheduled for next December. As a reminder, the Galaxy Tab S7 was released in the summer of 2020. It’s not impossible that the shortage of computer chips, which affects the entire electronics industry is responsible for this change of plan. From what I’ve heard, Samsung would also do this with the Galaxy S22. Future next-generation smartphones would be entitled to a Snapdragon 898 in most countries. Only a small number of regions will end up with the Exynos 2200.

In another tweet, Ice Universe announces the integration of45W fast charging technology in the three editions of the range: Tab S8, Tab S8 + and Tab S8 Ultra. The 45W fast charging was already present in the Tab S7. Finally, it announces battery sizes. We would find an 8,000 mAh battery in the standard edition, a 10,090 mAh battery in the + version and an 11,500 mAh battery in the Tab S8 Ultra.
