A SAMSUNG SMARTPHONE CATCHES ON FIRE IN AN AIRPLANE
According to our colleagues at the Seattle Times, a Samsung smartphone belonging to a passenger on Alaska Airlines flight 751 suddenly caught fire shortly after the plane landed. The captain of the aircraft was forced to initiate the emergency evacuation procedure and some passengers were slightly injured. According to the owner of the terminal behind the fire, it was a Galaxy A21, an entry-level smartphone from Samsung. For now, this is an isolated event. The lithium-on battery built into the smartphone has visibly overheated to the point of no return.

HUAWEI: THE BAPTIZED “ARC DISPLAY” SCREEN MORE CURVED THAN EVER
Huawei keeps filing new patents and the latest one concerns a new concept of smartphone. From the description, it would be a hybrid version of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and the Mate 40 Pro. The device in question would be equipped with an extremely curved screen called “Arc Display”, which would occupy the sides of the device until reaching the rear face. To compensate for the lack of physical buttons on the edges, Huawei would have opted for touch controls. In addition, a selfie camera under the screen would be part of the game and the documentation also mentions the presence of an artificial intelligence chip, a cooling system, as well as stereo speakers.

SAMSUNG GOES TOO FAR MISSING STEVE JOBS
While it’s common to see Samsung and Apple poke fun at each other, the latest provocation may have gone too far. User Yahia Sayed has indeed revealed on Twitter that Samsung has included a derogatory reference to the late Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, in a description of its official iTest web app. Without naming it, we can read in the description ” […] No turtleneck wearer should dictate how your phone looks, ”a fairly obvious reference to Steve Jobs. Fans of the American giant and other users quickly stepped up to the plate on social media, denouncing a joke that went too far and aimed at a deceased person rather than attacking current Apple CEO Tim Cook.
